Impaired driving On 31 December, 2024, at 7:00pm an officer on general patrol conducted a traffic stop on Cannifton Road.  The officer observed the driver showing signs of impairment and conducted a road side breath test, which the driver failed. James Mcmullen, 43, of Belleville was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a conveyance over 80mgs.  He was released with a 30 January, 2025 court date. Breach of conditions On 31 December, 2024, police received a call regarding a male breaching his release conditions. The complaint advised that her ex has been attempting to contact her, and he attended her residence which is a breach of his release conditions stemming from a previous domestic assault related investigation. Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 46 calls for service between 5:00 am on December 30, 2024 to 5:00 am on December 31, 2024. Breach of probation On 30 December, 2024 shortly before 10:00pm, Belleville Police were called to an east end address for a report of a breach of probation. Upon arrival, police spoke to a female that informed them that her ex had contacted her and breached his probation order. Through investigation Police further learned that the male was wanted on two warrants for a total of nine previous breach of probation charges. The 42-year-old Belleville male was located by police in the area and was arrested. He was held for a bail hearing on 31 December, 2024. Family Dispute On the 29th of December, 2024 at 12:36am, Belleville Police Service were dispatched to a residence on Ridley Street, after receiving a report of a family dispute in progress. When police arrived, the female victim reported she was assaulted by her intoxicated son, with apparent injuries. As a result of the investigation, police arrested a 21-year old male of Belleville, for assault. The accused was transported to the Belleville Police Station and released on an undertaking, issued a court date in February 2025. Slashed Tires The Belleville Police Service is continuing to investigate numerous reports of tires slashed on vehicles in the area of Avondale Rd and Harder Dr.  So far, a total of 10 vehicles have had their tires slashed overnight between Christmas and Boxing Day.  The suspect is described as having a slim build wearing a rust coloured hooded jacket, blue jeans and running shoes.  Residents in the area are encouraged to check any home security video that may have captured images of the suspect.  Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact Cst. Barricaded male surrenders A 30-year-old Belleville man is facing a number of domestic-related charges following an incident which led to a stand-off with police for a number of hours in the east end, Sunday. Officers attended a home in the city shortly after 1 a.m. to arrest a male wanted on a number of charges related to a domestic dispute reported earlier. However, shortly after officers contacted the male – who was alone in the home and refusing to come to the door – he barricaded himself inside the residence and began threatening to self-harm. Bestiality charge On 23 November, 2024, Belleville Police received a complaint from a male regarding the welfare of his dogs. The complainant advised that he shares custody of the dogs with his ex, but had evidence that the dogs were being mistreated. During the investigation, officers were provided videos showing the suspect committing explicit acts on the dogs. On 19 December, 2024, police arrested a 38-year-old Frankford man, and he was charged with bestiality. He will appear in court on 30 January, 2025.
