Assault
On the 6th of September at 7:28pm, while out for a walk on Farnham Rd, a man observed a dog in the middle of the road. The man yelled at the dog owner to get his dog. The owner of the dog then proceeded to physically assault the man who was walking by punching him in the face. The victim suffered minor injuries. The victim contacted police. Police were able to identify the suspect and as a result, on the 7th of September, police arrested and charged 52-year-old Scott Currie of Belleville with assault. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in September.
Disturbance
On the 7th of September at 12:25am, while on patrol on Front St., an officer was flagged down regarding a disturbance where two females advised that they had been assaulted by a male. A large crowd had gathered outside a business but dispersed without further incident. Police spoke to the victims and are continuing the investigation. The victims sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
Assault
On the 7th of September at 5:40pm, Belleville Police received a call from a person who reported that they were aware of a female whom they believed had been assaulted by their male partner. Police followed up on the information. Police attended a residence in the city’s west end to ensure the safety of the female. While doing so, police confirmed that the female had been assaulted. As a result, police arrested and charged a 59-year-old Belleville man with assault. He was held for a bail hearing.

Bail Violations
On the 8th of September at 7:00pm, a Belleville police officer observed a male on Station Street who was suspected of stealing from a Bell Boulevard business two days prior. In addition, it was learned that the male was on a Release Order with one of the conditions being not to be away from a residence in Brighton without being with his surety. In an attempt to avoid arrest, the male entered the Moira River. Upon crossing the river, the male was arrested by another officer waiting for him. As a result of the investigation, a 57-year-old Brighton man was charged with failing to comply with a Release Order and theft under $5000. He was held for a bail hearing.
Breach of Undertaking
On the 8th of September at 11:50pm, a Belleville police officer stopped at vehicle near Haig Road and Highway 2 for speeding. A check of the driver revealed that he was currently released on an Undertaking for charges of break and enter with one of the conditions being to obey a nightly curfew. The male was arrested without incident. As a result of the investigation, 30-year-old Matthew Gardiner of Carrying Place was charged with failing to comply with his Undertaking and speeding. He was released with an October court date.
