Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 103 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on October 2, 2024 to 5:00 am on October 3, 2024.
Police investigation into break and enter leads to arrest and charges
On the 30th of September, shortly after 8:00am, Belleville Police responded to a downtown business which had been broken into overnight. The business reported a loss of over $5000.00 in merchandise. Police continued the investigation which included the use of nearby CCTV cameras. On the 2nd of October at 5:30pm, officers on patrol in the downtown core located the suspect male. As a result of the investigation a 38-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with break and enter, mischief, possession of stolen property and breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
Arrested on Warrant
On the 2nd of October, shortly after 11:30pm, Belleville Police received information that a male currently wanted by the Belleville Police Service was in a north-end establishment. Police attended and arrested the 36-year-old Belleville man on the strength of the arrest warrant. The warrant was for an assault. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in October. Police will not be releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim as the charge relates to a domestic related incident.
