Careless Driving
On November 8, 2024, at 12:35pm, Belleville Police attended a single motor vehicle collision that struck a utility pole on Dundas Street East. The utility pole collapsed onto 2 other parked vehicles that were unoccupied. No injuries were reported. As a result of the investigation, a 59-year-old man from Trenton was charged with Careless Diving.
Stunt Driving
On November 8, 2024, at 7:00pm, Belleville Police were conducting traffic enforcement on Old HWY.2 when a vehicle was observed travelling 2 times over the posted speed limit. The driver, a 39-year-old resident of Castleton, was arrested for stunt driving. His driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. The driver was subsequently released on a Provincial Offence Summons with a court date in December, 2024.
Impaired Driving / Careless Storage of Firearms
On November 9, 2024, at 9:30pm, Belleville Police received a traffic complaint on Old HWY. 2 of a possible impaired driver. The police located the subject vehicle further into the city and conducted a traffic stop. Upon further investigation, the driver, 41-year-old Jacob Flewelling, was arrested for impaired driving and operation of a motor vehicle while over 80 blood alcohol content. Further investigation revealed that the accused was storing firearms in his vehicle in an unsafe manner. The accused was further charged with Careless Storage of Firearms and was later released on an undertaking with a court date on December 12, 2024.
Domestic / Warrants
On November 10, 2024, at 7:45pm, Belleville Police attended an address on Tripp Avenue in regards to a domestic dispute. The male victim reported that he was having an argument that turned violent where he was assaulted by a female. The investigation revealed that the female suspect had an outstanding warrant and she was subsequently arrested and charged for Assault with a Weapon and Failing to Appear in Court. The accused, a 35-year-old Plevna woman, was later released on an undertaking with a court date in November 2024.
Domestic / Robbery
On November 10, 2024, at 9:30am, Belleville Police were called to the area of Cannifton Road in regards to a female being dragged near a wooded area by a male. The investigation revealed that the male suspect and the victim were in a relationship. The victim was secured by the police and a search for the suspect was initiated. After a few minutes, police located the male suspect in the woods and arrested and charged him with Robbery, for attempting to take money from the victim and Breach of Probation. The accused, a 35-year-old Belleville man, who cannot be named to protect the victim, was held for bail hearing and will appear in court on November 12, 2024.
Motor Vehicle Collision
On November 11, 2024, at 2:30pm, Belleville Police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Bell Boulevard involving minor injuries. Both vehicles were not drivable and were towed from the scene. Both drivers declined medical assistance. One driver was charged with making an Unsafe Turn contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and was issued a provincial offences citation.
Warrants
On November 11, 2024, at 4:20am, Belleville Police were called to a north end gas station regarding a disturbance. The investigation revealed that a male involved had an outstanding warrant for Break and Enter. During the arrest and search of the male suspect, a small bag of a coloured powder was located and seized. While transporting the male to the police station, the arresting officer began to develop symptoms of a drug overdose as a result of the minor exposure to the powder during the arrest and required 2 doses of Narcan. The officer was transported to the Belleville General Hospital by another officer for observation and treatment.
The accused, 46-year-old John Green of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of the warrant and was later released with a court date on December 2, 2024.
The arresting officer was later released from the hospital with no further health complications.
