Power Outage - Motor Vehicle Collision
On 29 November, 2024, at 5:20am, Belleville Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on University Avenue. The vehicle struck 2 hydro poles and a power transformer exploded causing a power outage in parts of the east end of the city. The driver was treated with minor injuries by EMS and was released at the scene.
University Avenue remains closed by police as the collision investigation is currently ongoing. Hydro crews are also on scene to repair the hydro poles and transformer and they advised that some residents could be without power for up to 2 – 3 hours.
Motor Vehicle Collision
On November 28, 2024, at 10:20am, Belleville Police attended a motor vehicle collision in the city’s east end, involving two vehicles. There were minor injuries reported but were treated on scene. A 46-year-old male from Belleville, who was an involved driver was charged with, “Change Lane Not in Safety” contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. Both vehicles were not driveable and were towed from the scene
