Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 87 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on December 11, 2024 to 5:00 am on December 12, 2024.
Theft of Barbeque
On the 11th of December at 10:18am, police attended an address on Union Street in regards to a theft. The residence owner reported that sometime overnight an unknown suspect stole their Weber barbeque from their carport. There are no suspects. Anyone with information regarding the theft or the whereabouts of the stolen barbeque is asked to contact the Belleville Police Service at 613-966-0882.
Suspicious activity leads to drug trafficking charges
On the 11th of December at 11:06am, members of the Belleville Police Service’s Community Response Unit were observing a group of people near the corner of Bridge Street East and Church St. A number of people were observed to gather around one specific male. Police then observed activity that was consistent with drug trafficking. As a result of their observations, police arrested and charged 40-year-old Brian Morrison of Belleville with trafficking in Fentanyl, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of property obtained by crime. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in January 2025.
Be alert and don’t fall for the scam – Automated Speed Enforcement Cameras – Fines via text messages
The Belleville Police Service is aware of at least one community resident who recently received a notification via text message advising them that they had received a speeding ticket through the Automated Speed Enforcement Cameras and that they should click on the link to pay the fine. This is a scam. Legitimate speeding fines are mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle. Residents seeking further information on the payment of fines can visit the Hastings County website – Provincial Offences section.
