Improper use of 911

On the 30th of January in the mid-afternoon, a resident of Belleville contacted 911 to ask for the number of a taxi company. The caller was reminded that 911 is for emergency use only. Improper 911 calls take valuable time away from communications staff, time that may be needed to deal with real emergency situations. Calls such as this can delay responses for legitimate emergencies.  Dial 911 in an emergency when you need immediate help from police, fire, or ambulance services. For non-emergencies, the Belleville Police General Information line is 613-966-0882.
