Impaired Driving Causing Death

On March 28, 2025, at 9:00pm, the Belleville Police were called to a residence on St. Charles Street regarding a vehicle that struck a pedestrian.  A 73-year-old female was transported to Belleville General Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.  The Belleville Police Traffic Safety Unit, Criminal Investigative Unit and the Forensic Unit took over the investigation.  A 69-year-old Belleville man was arrested for Impaired Driving Causing Death and Driving While Blood Alcohol Exceeded Legal Limit.  The accused was held for a show cause hearing on March 29, 2025.  If any members of the public witnessed this incident, they are asked to contact Detective Wentzell at 613-966-0882 extension 4233 or Crime Stoppers.

Disturbance / Breach of Probation

On March 28, 2025, at 11:00pm, the Belleville Police attended a disturbance call at a Dundas Street East location.  A 62-year-old man with no fixed address was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave the property.  When police arrived on scene, they took the suspect into custody and found that he was breaching a probation order.  The accused, Harold Dekoning of Belleville, was held for a show cause hearing on March 29, 2025, and will re-appear in court March 31, 2025. 

Warrants

The Belleville Police initiated a harassment investigation in the beginning of March 2025.  A 42-year-old man from Napanee was engaging in unwanted communication with an ex-partner in the Belleville area.  Police located the suspect on March 29, 2025 and arrested him for two counts of Criminal Harassment, four counts of Failing to Comply with a Release Order, and Breach of Probation.  The accused was held for a show cause hearing on March 29, 2025.  The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the victim. 

Family Dispute / Breach of Court Order

On March 30, 2025, at 8:45pm, the Belleville Police were called to a residence in the east end of the city regarding a family dispute.  Information indicated that the dispute was between a mother and her adult son and that the parties were separated.  Officers arrived on scene and the investigation revealed that the 25-year-old son was breaching a conditional sentence order made by the court.  The accused was arrested based on the breach and was held for a show cause hearing on March 31, 2025.
