Arrested on Warrant

On the 8th of April at 11:00am, police were called to the area of Parks Drive for a report of unwanted persons on the property. Police attended and identified several persons who were trespassing. One the parties was identified as Stephanie McKenna, 34-years-old of no fixed address.  McKenna was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant with the Belleville Police Service for theft under $5000 and breach of probation. She was arrested and released on an Undertaking with a court date in April.

Disqualified Driver

On the 8th of April at 1:56pm, a member of the Traffic Safety Unit was in the area of Dundas St. and Herchimer Ave. when they received a notification on the Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) indicating the registered owner of a specific vehicle was a suspended driver.  When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver attempted to evade police by pulling into a nearby driveway and hiding. The driver was identified as Luke Callaghan, 37-years-old of Belleville.  The police investigation revealed that he is a prohibited driver under the Criminal Code for a conviction of Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle in 2024. Callaghan was arrested and charged with driving while disqualified.  He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in May.  His vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

Suspended driver

On the 8th of April at 5:27pm, a member of the Traffic Safety Unit was conducting traffic enforcement on Old Hwy 2 when they received another notification on the Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) indicating a vehicle was being operated with expired licence plates. Police stopped the vehicle and the driver was identified as a 52-year-old Belleville man.  The subsequent police investigation revealed that the driver is a suspended driver for life due to four convictions for Impaired operation, three convictions for driving while disqualified and one conviction for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. The driver was charged with driving while suspended under the Highway Traffic Act and issued a summons for a traffic court date in May.  His vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

Breach of Probation

Throughout the day on the 8th of April, Belleville Police received several calls from the same female enquiring about release conditions of her ex-spouse as it related to a previous conviction for domestic assault and failing to comply with a court order.  Although no allegations were made, due to potential safety concerns, police attended the females address to ensure her well-being. The female denied any contact with the ex-spouse.  Police remained suspicious and reattended a short time later.  While speaking to the female again, the ex-spouse was observed running out the back door.  Police engaged in a short foot pursuit through backyards and then arrested the 39-year-old Belleville man.  The male was charged with obstructing police and two counts of failing to comply with a Probation Order.  He was held for a bail hearing. 

Arrested on Warrant

On the 9th of April at 1:15am, an officer patrolling Front St. had occasion to speak with a male.  While doing so, the officer learned that the male was wanted by the Belleville Police Service for failing to comply with a Probation Order.  As a result, 52-year-old David Robertson of no fixed address was arrested on the strength of the warrant.  He was held for a bail hearing.
