Disturbance at medical facility leads to arrest for public intoxication

On the 14th of April at 12:40am, Belleville Police responded to a report of a disturbance in the city’s east end involving a 37-year-old female of no fixed address. It was reported that the individual was refusing to leave a medical building and was screaming at people inside.  Upon arrival, officers spoke to staff and learned that the female had been assessed by a medical professional and was cleared to leave the facility.  The female refused and began verbalizing her displeasure.  Police attempted to de-escalate the situation. Despite multiple efforts to reason with her, the individual continued to behave in a disorderly manner.  During their interactions, police further determined that the female was intoxicated from the consumption of alcohol.  As a result, she was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and was held in custody until sober.
