Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 59 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 24th of November, 2022, to 5:00 am on the 25th of November, 2022.

Stabbing Incident

On the 24th of November 2022 at 11:17 pm, Belleville Police responded to a Cannifton Street Belleville, Ontario business for reports of a stabbed male. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle prior to police arrival. The victim was taken to Kingston General Hospital for medical treatment, where they remain in stable condition. Breach of Probation and Cause Disturbance

On the 24th of November 2022 at 5:32 p.m. Belleville Police responded to the area of Ritchie Street and Catharine Street, Belleville, Ontario, regarding a male causing a disturbance. The male was causing issues and trying to start fights with parents picking up their children. Police attended the area and located 61-year-old Ernest Haughton of no fixed address. Haughton was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service, where he was charged with Breach of Probation and Cause Disturbance. The male was later released with a court date of December 29th, 2022.

City Police also report a fairly steady 24-hour period responding to several incidents that ended peacefully with Police intervention. Those incidents included five motor vehicle collisions, domestic disputes, suspicious persons and vehicles, traffic complaints, family disputes, and calls to assist ambulance.
