Domestic related Mischief
On the 23rd of April at 4:15pm, Belleville Police received a call for a domestic disturbance in the city’s west end. The caller reported that a female was yelling at them to call the police. Police attended and the involved female advised that she and her male partner had engaged in a verbal argument when he became angry, grabbed her cell phone and began smashing it. Police located the 24-year-old Belleville man a short distance away. He was arrested without incident and charged with mischief under $5000. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in May.
Disturbance involving youths and a knife leads to charges
On the 23rd of April at 8:20pm, a citizen was in the area of Pine St and Foster St when they observed a group of approximately 10 youths involved in a physical altercation. Several of the youths were yelling that one of them had a knife. Police attended and began an investigation. There were no reported injuries. Some of the youths had fled prior to police arrival. Police contacted a parent of the youth who was in possession of the knife. Later in the evening, the parent attended the Belleville Police Service with the youth to deal with the charges. As a result of the investigation, police charged a 15-year-old male from Belleville with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of assault, uttering threats to cause death and breach of a Release Order. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Domestic Assault
On the 23rd of April at 9:41pm, police received a call from a female victim reporting that an ex-male partner had just assaulted her and then fled the area on his bicycle. Police attended and spoke to the female. She declined medical attention. Police obtained a description of the male suspect and located him. He was arrested without incident. As a result of the investigation, the 36-year-old Belleville man was charged with assault. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
