Stunt Driving
On the 3rd of April at 5:45pm, a member of the Belleville Police Traffic Safety Unit was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 37 in Roslin when they stopped a vehicle that was travelling at 109 km/h in a posted 60km/h zone. As a result, the 38-year-old male driver from Trenton was charged with stunt driving and issued a summons with a traffic court date in May. In addition, the driver had their licence suspended for 30 days and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
Warm weather leads to inappropriate outdoor activity
On the 3rd of April at 6:05pm, the Belleville Police Service were dispatched to South John Street for a report of several people standing and watching an adult male and female engaging in sexual intercourse in public. When police arrived, they recognized a female that was present in the group. The group began to quickly disperse attempting to evade police. Police stopped one of the males and learned that he was on conditions not to be around the female that police recognized. As a result, police arrested and charged the male with breach of probation. The 28-year-old Belleville man was held for a bail hearing.
Impaired Driving
On the 3rd of April at 11:00pm, a Belleville Police officer conducted a vehicle stop at the intersection of North Front Street and Bell Boulevard for a car driving with no lights. The officer noted an open can of alcohol and an odor of alcohol coming from the driver. The driver failed a roadside screening device and was arrested. As a result of further testing, 35-year-old Dean Kaniaupio of Rockland was charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in May.
