Belleville Police Service Board Welcomes New Leadership

At its September 19, 2024, meeting, the Belleville Police Service Board welcomed Chief Murray Rodd and Deputy Chief Sheri Meeks as the new leadership team of the Belleville Police Service.

In addition, Councillor Barb Enright-Miller was introduced as the newest member of the Board following her appointment by the City of Belleville’s Council. She was also nominated and appointed as Vice-Chair of the Board. Heather Smith was nominated and appointed as Chair, succeeding outgoing Councillor Tyler Allsopp, who stepped down after 18 months to pursue candidacy as the PC candidate for Provincial Parliament. The other members of the five-person Board are Jim O’Brien, Mayor Neil Ellis, and Janet Harnden.

Chair Smith expressed gratitude to Mr. Allsopp for his contributions and service to the community and to the men and women of the Belleville Police Service, and wished him well in his future endeavors. She also thanked Acting Chief Chris Barry for postponing his retirement to support both the Board and the members of the Service. Acting Chief Barry’s years of dedication and commitment to the community will be honoured at a retirement event on October 7, 2024.

The next Belleville Police Service Board meeting is scheduled for November 21 at 10 a.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber.
