Shoplifter nabbed

A 20-year-old man with no fixed address is scheduled for a bail hearing following a theft investigation at a north end business.

Belleville Police were called to a North Front Street business at 4:30 p.m. Thursday after a man was observed stealing a jacket.

Officers responding to the call located the suspect, who was also bound by a probation order, nearby and he was arrested.

The man was held for a bail hearing today on charges of Theft Under $5,000 and Breach of Probation.

Family dispute leads to charges

A call to a Linton Park residence Thursday evening led to an assault charge for a 26-year-old woman.

Police were dispatched to the home following reports of a family argument that escalated out of control.

Following an investigation, the female was arrested, charged and held for a bail hearing Thursday.

Assault and mischief

Local paramedics called upon police for assistance after a patient became unruly in the back of an ambulance, Thursday.

Officers were called to an ambulance parked near a Golfdale Road address after an intoxicated patient started threatening paramedics and damaged the interior of the vehicle.

Officers arrived and arrested the combative patient and held the 21-year-old for a bail hearing today on charges of Mischief over $5,000, Utter Threats, Resisting Arrest and Intimidation of a Health Care Worker.

The man was also issued a provincial offence notice for Public Intoxication.

RIDE program

A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program stopped upwards of 250 vehicles at various locations throughout the city, Thursday.

Officers administered seven roadside alcohol tests, however no charges or arrests were made.

The Belleville Police Service reminds the community that the Festive RIDE program is in full swing this holiday season. Officers are conducting spot checks at various locations to deter impaired driving and ensure the safety of our roads.
