Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 115 calls for service over the weekend beginning at 5:00 am on 7 December, 2024, to 5:00 am on 9 December, 2024.
Theft Under $5000
On December 6, 2024, at 4:45pm, the Belleville Police were called to a north end business in regards to a theft. Officers arrived on scene and took two suspect males into custody. Charged with Theft Under $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, were 28-year-old, Jonathan Hill and 35-year-old Tyler Hill of Belleville. Both accused were released from custody with a court date of January 16, 2024.
Theft Over $5000
On December 6, 2024, at 8:00pm, the Belleville Police were called to a north end business in regards to a theft in progress. Officers quickly arrived on scene and located one of the two suspects involved. The second suspect had fled the scene just prior to police arriving. The 18-year-old accused, Syed Taqi Raza Naqvi of Scarborough, was charged with Theft Over $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. The accused was held for a bail hearing on December 7, 2024, and will re-appear in court later this week.
Domestic Assault
On December 7, 2024, at 10:00pm, Belleville Police were called to a residence on Cannifton Road in regards to a domestic. Upon arrival, police found the parties involved to be separated in the residence. Further investigation led officers to arrest an intoxicated, 35-year-old man for domestic assault. The accused was held for a bail hearing on December 8, 2024 and will re-appear in court later this week.
The identity of the accused is being withheld for the protection of the victim.
Domestic, Warrants & Overdose
On December 8, 2024, at 9:00pm, Belleville Police received a 911 call from a female victim in regards to a male known to her, who was not to be around her, who was in her residence and out of control. Police arrived on scene and identified the male suspect from information gathered. The suspect male was on court conditions not to be at that residence or to be near the female victim. The victim had safely made it outside of the residence with the police while the suspect remained in the residence and would not answer to police. The victim advised police that the male suspect was freaking out on drugs.
Investigative measures determined that the suspect was flagged by police for violence and the use of weapons. Members of the Emergency Response Unit and Canine team entered the residence to safely take the accused into custody. The search of the residence found the suspect in a bedroom in a state of drug overdose. The suspect was taken to Belleville General Hospital where he was medically treated and later released.
The 39-year-old suspect male from Belleville was transported to the police station and charged with Breach of Probation, Breach of Release Order, and held for a bail hearing with regards to outstanding warrants. The accused will appear in court December 9, 2024.
