Domestic assault

On 18 January, 2025, at 8:30pm, Belleville Police received a 911 call. Police were not able to speak to anyone, but could hear a female in distress. Through investigation, police were able to contact the female and began a domestic assault investigation. Police learned the female’s ex-husband had located her and assaulted her. The male had previously been charged with domestic assault on the female and released by the courts with conditions not to communicate or be in the area of the female. The investigation is continuing, and police will be looking to arrest the male suspect.

Domestic assault

On 18 January, 2025, at 9:40pm, Belleville Police began an investigation into a domestic situation at a Thurlow address. Police learned that a female had been assaulted and was not being allowed to leave the residence. Further information was received that the male had access to firearms and has brandished and fired a firearm in a previous incident. Police attended the area and located the male outside the residence. Officers placed the male under arrest after a brief struggle. Additional officers assisted in arresting and controlling the male who was believed to be under the influence of drugs at the time. A 41-year-old Belleville man is charged with domestic assault, utter threats, resist arrest, and careless discharge of a firearm. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing on 19 January, 2025. In the evening of 19 January, Belleville Police executed a search warrant on a trailer belonging to the male, and a sawed-ff shotgun and several air soft guns were located. The investigation is continuing, and further charges are expected. The name of the accused is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.

Impaired driver

On 19 January, 2025, at 3:00am, an officer on patrol observed a vehicle on North Front Street being operated in an erratic manner. A vehicle stop was conducted and an investigation began as to the sobriety of the driver. The female driver exhibited severe signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. An open bottle of liquor was located in the vehicle and the driver was found to be unlicensed. The driver provided breath samples two and a half times over the legal limit. The driver was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, operation with over 80 milligrams, driving with an open container of liquor, and drive a motor vehicle with no license.
