Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 83 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on March 25, 2025 to 5:00 am on March 26, 2025.
Theft
On the 25th of March at 8:30pm, police received a call from staff of a business on Bell Blvd regarding two males that had intentionally left the store without paying for merchandise. Police were in the area on patrol when they received the call and quickly located and stopped the vehicle which the two males were in. During their investigation, police learned that the two males were in the store placing bottles of Glenfiddich Scotch, Johnnie Walker scotch and Grey Goose vodka into re-useable grocery bags. Store employees told them to stop however the suspects continued and then walked out of the store with the items. While searching the vehicle, police located additional stolen power tools from a nearby store. Police arrested all three men inside the vehicle. Police attended the nearby power tool store and confirmed the theft. As a result, 2 males from Brampton with ages 48 and 22, were charged with theft under $5000 and possession of stolen property under $5000. A third male inside the vehicle, 31-years-old also of Brampton was arrested and charged with theft under $5000, possession of stolen property under $5000 and breach of probation. All three men were held for a bail hearing.
Stabbing incident at Belleville – Quinte Health Care Emergency Department
On the 25th of March at 12:20pm, Belleville Police were dispatched to the Emergency Department at the Quinte Health Care – Belleville after receiving reports that a person had began to threaten staff with a knife and then stabbed a security guard. When police arrived, the situation had calmed and the knife had been removed from the suspect. Police spoke to numerous people and learned that a 42-year-old male from Belleville had attended the Emergency Department earlier for an unrelated health issue. The male had been triaged by staff and was waiting on a hall-way bed in an area designated for non-emergent patients. The male became agitated and began to cause a disturbance. When approached by hospital staff, the suspect advised that he had a knife and threatened to stab staff. The suspect then brandished a knife. Staff disengaged and began to create space. Two on site security officers attended and physically engaged the male attempting to disarm him of the knife. While doing so, one security guard and the suspect both sustained stab wounds to their leg. Both parties were treated at the hospital for their injuries. The suspect was arrested and charged with uttering threats to cause bodily harm and death, assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and intimidation of a Health Care Professional. Following his medical treatment, the suspect was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he was held in custody for a bail hearing.
