Sexual Assault – Seeking Public’s Assistance to Identify Suspect

The Belleville Police Service is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the suspect responsible for a sexual assault which occurred in the downtown core on the 15th of May 2023.   

Between 11:00am and 12:00pm, a 15-year-old female was walking in the area of Front St and Campbell St when she was approached by an unknown male.  The male began speaking to the female but then proceeded to push her up against a wall and sexually assault her.  The victim was able to physically fend the suspect off.  The victim did not suffer any physical injuries.

The male is described as 30-40 years old, dark coloured hair, having a dark “bushy” beard and wearing a green army style jacket with lots of pockets and a blue ball cap.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect and are requesting anyone with video footage of the area or dash board cameras from vehicles that may have been area near the time of the occurrence to contact Constable Stein at cstein@bellevilleps.ca or 613-966-0882 x 4191 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
