Fire scene released, investigation ongoing

The scene of a Remembrance Day fire on Thurlow Queen Street has been released and an investigation is continuing by investigators.

Police, paramedics and firefighters responded to the home, located in the hamlet of Plainfield, around 9:30 a.m. Monday morning. The fire was deemed suspicious by fire investigators at the scene.

One resident was reportedly treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics.

The scene was secured by police while investigators with the Belleville Fire Prevention unit and resources from the Belleville Police Service’s Forensic Identification Unit and Criminal Investigations Division processed the scene for evidence.

The property has since been released and the investigation is ongoing.

Assault and threats charges

A male screaming in the city’s west end led to the arrest of a 30-year-old man on criminal charges, Thursday.

Around 8:40 p.m. police were dispatched to an area of Bridge Street West for a report of a man yelling and screaming.

Upon arrival, the male alleged another man had threatened and assaulted him.

The suspect was located a short distance away and following an investigation, was arrested.

Charged with assault and uttering threats is Jordan Pringle, 30, of no fixed address. He was released from custody with a December court date.
