Assault and uttering threats

On the 19th of October at 12:45am, Belleville Police were called to a business in the city’s north end regarding a disturbance which led to a male victim being assaulted.  Officers arrived on scene and learned that the suspect had fled in a vehicle.  Officers obtained a detailed description of the vehicle and the suspect.  A short time later, officers on patrol in the city’s east-end located the suspect vehicle.  The vehicle was stopped and the suspect was arrested without incident.  As a result of the investigation, 30-year-old Daniel Woodstock of Thomasburg was arrested for assault and uttering threats. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in November.

Motor Vehicle Collision

On the 19th of October at 5:55pm, Belleville Police responded to a two-vehicle collision in the area of the Quinte Mall on Bell Blvd.  Hastings-Quinte Paramedics attended to treat minor injuries and both vehicles were undriveable due to the collision.  As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old male from Belleville was charged with failing to stop for a red light.  He was issued a Provincial Offence Notice. 

Robbery leads to multiple charges

On the 19th of October at 10:16pm, Belleville Police responded to the area of Bridge St. and Pinnacle St. regarding a stabbing.  Officers arrived on scene and located a victim suffering from lacerations to his head and arms.  The victim advised he was attacked with an edged weapon as a male and female suspect were attempting to steal his bag.  The pair of suspects left the area after the attack with the victim’s bag.  The victim was transported by paramedics to the Belleville General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.  Through their investigation, police were able to identify both suspects. 

On the 20th of October, officers located and arrested the 38-year-old male suspect of no fixed address.   He was charged with robbery, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and breach of probation.  He was held for a bail hearing.  Police are continuing their efforts to locate the 37-year-old female suspect also of no fixed address.

Breach of Release Order

On the 20th of October at 3:00am, Belleville Police were called to a residence in the city’s east end regarding a loud argument taking place inside.  Officers arrived on scene and located a male hiding in a closet of the residence.  During their investigation, police learned that the male was currently on a Release Order as a result of a number of serious domestic charges.  Included as part of those conditions was to follow a nightly curfew and not to be at the residence or communicate with the homeowner where he was located.  As a result of the investigation, the 18-year-old male from Shannonville was charged with four counts of failing to comply with his Release Order.  He was held for a bail hearing. 

Fraud

On the 20th of October at 7:03pm, Belleville Police were at a north end business in the parking lot dealing with a group of people.  While present, the loss prevention officer from the store advised police that one of the males in the group had been observed switching pricing labels on merchandise while inside the store and then checking out.  As a result, police arrested and charged 35-year-old Matthew Cvancic of Belleville with fraud under $5000.  He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in November.
