Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 75 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on October 24, 2024 to 5:00 am on October 25, 2024.
Break and enter investigation
Belleville police are looking to the public for assistance after a break-and-enter to a home in the city’s west end, recently.
Shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday, officers were called to an address on Purdy Street.
The homeowner reported that sometime between October 17th and 24th unknown persons gained entry to the residence and stole a number of items.
The Belleville Police Service’s Forensic Identification Unit was called to the scene to assist with processing evidence.
As the investigation into this incident continues, police are looking to the public for assistance.

Cannifton Road chaos
A chaotic scene in the city’s rural ward ended with the arrest of a male on a number of criminal charges, Thursday evening.
Officers were called to an area of Cannifton Road North around 10:30 p.m., just south of River Road after a 911 caller advised a green truck had smashed into a hydro pole, possibly rolled and the driver was attempting to leave the scene.
Police arrived and found a smashed truck and a 15-foot hydro pole laying across the roadway.
Following an investigation, police charged Scott Riemens, 19, with Impaired Driving, More than 80 mgs (having more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood) and Dangerous Driving.
Riemens was released from custody later in the evening with a November 28, 2024 court date in Belleville to face the charges. As per legislation, Riemens’ licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for a week.
Hydro crews were called to the scene to remove and replace the pole.
There were no injuries reported.
