The City of Belleville Polar Plunge was originally scheduled for Friday, March 21st, however due to ice conditions and for safety reasons, the Polar Plunge has been rescheduled to Friday, March 28th at 1:00 pm at the Herchimer Boat Launch.

Members of the Belleville Police Service, Belleville Fire and Emergency Services, Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services, Belleville Probation and Parole, and several other community organizations will once again be taking the plunge into the frigid waters of the Bay of Quinte in support of Special Olympics Ontario.

The 2025 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Ontario kicked off on January 18th, 2025 and is occurring across the province with the final plunge taking place in Peel Region on March 29th, 2025. On Friday, March 28th, 2025, Belleville will host the 5th annual Polar Plunge in support of over 23,000 Special Olympics Athletes in Ontario as well as more than 80 athletes locally that participate in the games. All funds raised will support programming for these athletes.

The event will host a special guest, local Special Olympics Ontario athlete Nicole Ferguson, who will be receiving the prestigious King Charles III’s Coronation Medal. The award recognizes not only her outstanding accomplishments but also the profound impact she has made in the community.
