Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 166 calls for service over the weekend beginning at 5:00 am on the 11th of September, 2022 to 5:00 am on the 12th of September, 2022.

Arrest on Warrant

On September 10, 2022, at 1:10pm, city police observed a female adult who had an outstanding warrant for her arrest for charges currently before the court.  The accused, 30-year-old Rhonda Giordano, was observed behind the storefronts on Front Street and was taken into custody without incident.  The accused is facing charges of Failing to Comply with a Probation Order, Theft Over $5000 and Theft of a Motor Vehicle.  Giordano was held for a Show Cause Hearing and will re-appear in court September 12, 2022.

Breach of Undertaking

On September 10, 2022, at 1:40pm, police attended a residence on Dunbar Street regarding a domestic dispute in progress.  Officers separated the involved parties.  The investigation found that a 26-year-old male from Belleville who was involved had a court order not to be in contact with the female that was present at this residence and involved in the dispute, or to be at that location.  The male accused was taken into custody for two counts of Breaching Undertakings and was held for a Show Cause Hearing on September 11, 2022. 

Impaired Driving

On September 11, 2022, at 1:49pm, police observed a vehicle northbound on North Front Street proceed through a red traffic light at College Street.  The suspect vehicle had then driven down a back alley and back onto College Street where it then came to a stop in a driveway.  Police on-scene observed fresh damage to the vehicle that was consistent with it striking a building.  The driver was removed from the driver’s seat by police and was taken into custody for impaired driving.  22-year-old Prashant Shoeran of Belleville was charged with three counts of Breach of Release Orders, Impaired Driving, Refusing to Provide Breath Sample and Flight from Police.  The accused was held for a Show Cause Hearing on September 11, 2022 and will re-appear in court September 12, 2022. 

Impaired Driving / Stunt Driving

On September 11, 2022, at 7:20pm, Belleville Police stopped a vehicle at Dundas Street East and Burnham Avenue for going 105km/h in a 50km/h zone on Dundas Street East.  The roadside investigation lead police to believe that the male driver may be under the influence of alcohol.  The driver provided a roadside breath sample which registered a fail reading.  The driver was taken into custody.  The suspect provided samples of his breath at the Belleville Police Service which registered levels of more than one and a half times over the legal limit. 

36-year-old Justin York of Toronto was charged with Operate Motor Vehicle - Over 80mgs of Alcohol and Stunt Driving.  The accused was later released on his own undertaking and will appear in court October 7, 2022.
