Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 210 calls for service over a 72-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 16th of September, 2022, to 5:00 am on the 19th of September, 2022.

Impaired Driving

On the 16th of September 2022, at 8:30 pm, an off-duty Belleville Police officer observed what they believed to be an impaired driver operating a vehicle erratically on Ashley Street in Belleville, Ontario.  The off-duty officer managed to stop the vehicle on Highway #62. Uniform officers attended, and while on the scene, the driver failed a field sobriety test and was arrested.  As a result, 33-year-old Samuel George of Pickering, Ontario, was charged with impaired operation and having over 80mg of alcohol in his blood.  George was later released on an undertaking with a court date of the 20th of October, 2022.

On the 16th of September 2022 at 9:00 pm, Belleville Police responded to a two-vehicle collision at Bridge Street West and Coleman Street Belleville, Ontario. There were no injuries reported, but neither vehicle was driveable.  While conducting the investigation, the at-fault driver was showing signs of impairment.  The driver failed a field sobriety test and was arrested.  As a result, 40-year-old Murray Young of Belleville, Ontario, was charged with having 80mg plus of alcohol in his blood.  Young was later released on an undertaking with a court date of the 20th of October, 2022.

Motor Vehicle Collision

On the 18th of September 2022 at 11:35 pm, Belleville Police attended an address on Harder Drive, Belleville, Ontario, regarding a motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed that a black Audi had gone through a stop sign at Harder Drive and Wright Avenue, Belleville, Ontario and struck the front entrance to a Church causing substantial damage. The driver and passenger fled the scene. Assault with a Weapon

On the 18th of September 2022, at 6:20 pm, Belleville Police attended a business on Front Street Belleville, Ontario, regarding a fight. Upon arrival, police broke up the disturbance. Investigation revealed that a female had stabbed an ex-boyfriend who worked in the establishment. The male sustained minor injuries. As a result, a 29-year-old Belleville, Ontario resident was charged with assault with a weapon and assault. She was held for a bail hearing on 19 Sept 2022.

Arrest on Warrant

On the 19th of September 2022, at 4:35 am, Belleville Police received a call about a disturbance on Moira Street East Belleville, Ontario. Police located a male and female arguing. A records check indicated that the male Gordon Green, a 36-year-old Belleville, Ontario resident had a warrant for breaching his probation. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing on the 19th of September, 2022.
