Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 79 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 27th of September, 2022, to 5:00 am on the 28th of September, 2022.

Arrest Warrant

On the 27th of September, 2022, at 8:00 pm, 20-year-old Haley Podniewicz attended the Belleville Police Service to turn herself in on outstanding warrants. Podniewicz was arrested earlier this year for possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and subsequently failed to attend her scheduled court date to answer to the charge. Consequently, a warrant was issued for her arrest. Podniewicz was later released with a court date of the 20th of October, 2022.

Intimate Partner Assault

On the 27th of September, 2022, at 2:45 pm Belleville Police were called to a Benjamin Street Belleville, Ontario, address for a report of an assault. It was determined through investigation that a female victim had been assaulted by her boyfriend, sustaining a minor laceration which was treated at Belleville General Hospital. As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Deseronto, Ontario, male, was arrested and charged with assault and assault with a weapon. The male was later released with a court date of the 31st of October, 2022. As the incident involves intimate partner violence, the accused’s name is not being released to protect the victim’s identity.

Project RENEWAL Drug Arrest

On September 27th, 2022, as part of a drug trafficking investigation in the City of Belleville, Project Renewal arrested 18-year-old Matthew Carvalho of Toronto, Ontario, for trafficking a controlled substance. Carvalho was in possession of 10 grams of Fentanyl and $545.00 in Canadian currency. As a result of the investigation, Carvalho was charged with:

  1. Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  3. Breach of a Probation Order
  4. Two counts of Fail to Comply with Release Order

Carvalho was held in custody pending a Bail Hearing on September 28th, 2022.
