Police Constable - Experienced Officer

Police Constable – Experienced Officer applicants are those currently serving with another police agency in Canada, that have completed a Basic Constable Training program. All current and past military police must apply through our Police Constable – New Recruit process, not as an Experienced Officer.

 

Applicants for the Belleville Police Service position of Police Constable – Experienced Officer must meet or surpass the following minimum requirements and standards:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada and legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Possess a Grade 12 graduation diploma or equivalent or post-secondary education at an accredited college or university as an adult student as a minimum.
  • Possess a valid Class G driver’s license and suitable driving record.
  • Possess a valid standard or emergency First Aid and CPR Level C certificates.
  • Be in good health (physically and mentally fit) and meet the physical, mental and medical requirements of the OACP and Belleville Police Service. 
  • Be of good moral character and habits meaning that you are an individual other people would look upon as being trustworthy and having integrity.
  • Have successfully completed your probationary period with a recognized Canadian Police Service or equivalent
  • Member in good standing  

 

Recruitment steps for Police Constable – Experienced Officer:

  1. Application Submission Review
  2. Preliminary Virtual Interview
  3. In-Person Executive Leader Interview, Pre-Background Questionnaire and Local Focus Questionnaire
  4. Psychological Assessment
  5. Comprehensive Background Investigation (education, employment, personal history, credit and reference checks, as well as home visits)
  6. Third-party medical examination.

  • Proof of educational achievements (diploma, degree, etc.)
  • Basic Constable Training Certificate
  • Training record from current service
  • Two (2) most recent Performance Evaluations/Appraisals from your current Service
  • A valid Fitness Pin Award
  • Letters of commendation, if available
  • Consent and Release of Liability Form 
  • Copy of valid First Aid and CPR certificates
