Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 78 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on September 24, 2024 to 5:00 am on September 25, 2024.
Downtown break-in bandits nabbed
Three men are facing charges following a break-in to a downtown business overnight, Tuesday.
Officers were called shortly after midnight to a Front Street address for a report of an alarm.
Three Belleville men – aged 46, 39 and 27 – were arrested without further incident within close proximity to the location.
The 39-year-old and 27-year-old were charged with break and enter, failing to comply with probation conditions and held for a show cause hearing Wednesday.
In a parallel investigation into a previous break and enter at the same location earlier in the week, the 39-year-old male was further charged with an additional count each of break and enter and breaching probation.
The 46-year-old man arrested, John Green, was charged with break and enter and released on an undertaking with an October 17 court date.
Close call in the East end
Following a close call in the city’s east end, police are reminding cyclists in the city to ensure safety equipment is working on their bike when pedalling around.
Officers were called around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to an area of Bridge Street East for a vehicle and cyclist collision.
There were no injuries, however police investigators would like to remind cyclists to operate with functioning lights, as prescribed by the Highway Traffic Act.
