We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our community partners. The Belleville Police Service appreciates the individuals, organizations and businesses who have made gift-in-kind and monetary contributions. These contributions play a critical role allowing us to acquire new equipment to support our members and enhance our service to the community. Thank you community partners for your gracious donations and support of the Belleville Police Service.
Belleville Police cruisers are getting AED Defibrillators. After a generous $20,000 donation from local residents Ross McDougall and Rob Haggarty, Belleville Police Service is equipping all of its 15 front line vehicles with automatic defibrillators. It is another opportunity to make Belleville safer. The model of defibrillator being used in the police vehicle is the same model used by the ambulances in Belleville, allowing first responders to swap between devices quickly and easily when needed.
An Automated Licence Plate Recognition System for a police vehicle to use for traffic enforcement was made possible by contributions from Peter Smith of Peter Smith GM, Ross McDougall of McDougall Insurance, Mark Hanley owner of Hanley Corporation/Tim Hortons, Dennis McCullough owner of Canadian Tire, and Rob Haggerty president of International Truckload Services. Also, John Sherratt owner of Starboard Communications donated a utility trailer used to move resources to and from incident scenes, and community events and Kerry McConkey of Market High Advertising contributed the wrap on the trailer.
The Lions Club made the purchase of two Segway personal transport devices possible. These devices provide increased visibility and response time for constables in the downtown core, waterfront trail, and our City park and recreation areas.
Ainley Graham & Associates Limited, Don Hart Construction, Settler’s Ridge Homes, Mirten Homes and Duvanco Homes contributed towards the purchase of Avon C50 Gas Mask and Accessories. These devices are used to save the lives of front line police officers in dangerous situations such as situations involving the battle against the fatal drugs fentanyl and carfentanyl or a transportation corridor spill or disaster involving nauseous substances and poisonous gases. These masks are life savers when it comes to officers being able to evacuate neighbourhoods, businesses, and areas before our citizens are exposed to harmful gases, or affected by poisonous materials that have been spilled or released into the atmosphere by a fire or accident event.
Sergeant Stitt of the Traffic Safety Unit accepted a LIDAR speed detection device from members of the Belleville Community Policing team. This particular device is deployed for use by constables on general patrol and is a very welcome tool to help keep our community and roadways safe.
A Harley Davidson motorcycle to enhance road patrols was made possible by gifts from Ross McDougall of McDougall Insurance, Dennis McCullough of Canadian Tire, Peter Smith of Peter Smith GM, and Mark Hanley of the Hanley Corporation/Tim Hortons.
Mr. Brian Hadley of Belleville Sport and Lawn has been very gracious over the past several years in donating two new all terrain vehicles for the Force to utilize at no cost each and every year. These machines are used for parade marshalling and patrols, search and rescue, patrolling and managing large community events, and are invaluable when it comes to providing superior response in congested areas, or open spaces in rural areas where a vehicle cannot.
