Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 99 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on June 22^nd, 2023 to 5:00 am on June 23^rd, 2023.

Assault with a weapon

On the 22^nd of June 2023, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers were called to the downtown core for a report of a male that chased after a woman with a knife. On arrival, officers located the male who took off on the run.

Following a brief foot chase the male was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service. A 51-year-old Belleville man is being held for a bail hearing today on charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, uttering death threats, and two counts of breach of probation.

Domestic

On the 22^nd of June 2023, at approximately 6:40 p.m., officers attended an east end residence for a report of a domestic disturbance.

Information was received that a male was observed head-butting a female during the course of an argument.

Officers located the male suspect inside in an apartment complex. Following an investigation into the incident, officers arrested at 52-year-old Belleville man on multiple charges including two counts of assault, mischief and breaching of probation. The male was later released on a promise to appear and an OIC undertaking with a court date of the 24^th of July 2023.
