Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 119 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on June 29, 2023 to 5:00 am on June 30, 2023.

Disturbance

On June 29 2023 at 5:21am, police were called to a west end business regarding a 40-year-old female from Belleville who was causing a disturbance.  Upon arrival, police learned that the female had purchased items and then exited the store without issue.  Shortly after, the female returned and attempted to purchase several other items however didn’t have enough money.  When the employee refused to allow the female to take the items, the female became angry and started damaging the store and threw an item which struck the employee.  The employee did not suffer any physical injuries.  As a result, the female was arrested and charged with causing a disturbance, mischief and assault with a weapon.  The female was released shortly after 8am on an Undertaking with a condition of not to return to the business.  

Later that day at 3:47pm, police received a request to attend the same west end business regarding a female yelling and swearing at customers using the store.  Police quickly determined that the female in question was the same female who had previously been arrested earlier in the day at the same business.  As a result, the 40-year-old female of Belleville was arrested and charged for breaching a condition of her Undertaking and she was held for a bail hearing.

Child Luring

On June 20 2023, Belleville police were called regarding a 17-year-old female who received unsolicited inappropriate photos over social media from an older male whom she had never met in person.  The male initiated the contact by saying they had mutual friends and that he found her attractive.  The male continued to message the female over social media which included sending inappropriate photographs of himself to her.  The female told her parents who immediately contacted police.  An investigation began with the assistance of the Belleville Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit.  The identity of the male was confirmed and a warrant was sought for his arrest. 

On June 29 2023 at 1:45pm, an officer on general patrol located a vehicle associated to the male wanted on the warrant.  The officer conducted a traffic stop in the west end of Belleville and arrested the male on his outstanding warrants.  As a result, 36-year-old David Maracle of Belleville was arrested for Child Luring, failing to comply with prohibition regarding children and transmitting sexually explicit material to a person under 18.  He was held for a bail hearing.
