Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 235 calls for service between 5:00 am on August 25, 2023 to 5:00 am on August 28, 2023.

 

Public Intoxication

On the 25th of August 2023 shortly after 9:00 pm, Belleville Police attended the area of Bridge Street West for a male who had been laying on the grass for over 20 minutes and hadn’t moved.  EMS also attended to ensure the male was not in any medical distress.  When spoken to, the 41-year-old male from Belleville was unable to advise where he lived and was unable to care for himself.  As a result, the male was arrested for his own safety under the Liquor Licence Act for being intoxicated in a public place.  He was later released when sober.

 

Arrested on Warrant

On the 26th of August 2023 shortly after 9:15 am, while on general patrol, Belleville Police were in the area of Bridge Street East and Ann St, when they observed a male known to them who had an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to appear in court.  Justin Minaker, 35-years-old of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing. 

 

Flight from Police

On the 26th of August 2023 at 8:40 pm, an officer on routine patrol on North Front St. observed a black GMC pick-up truck travelling on the wrong side of the road and in excess of 100km/h.   Police attempted to stop the vehicle however it refused to stop and fled from police.  Police did not pursue the vehicle in light of public safety.  A short time later the vehicle was located unoccupied in the area of North Park Street. Intimate Partner Assault

On the 27th of August 2023 at 11:00 pm, police responded to an intimate partner dispute at an address in the city’s west end. Upon arrival police spoke to the victim who advised that they had been held down and assaulted by their partner. As a result, a 41-year-old male from Belleville was arrested and charged with one count of assault.  He was held for a bail hearing.
