Motorcycle versus truck 

The driver of a motorcycle was transported to Kingston hospital with what was believed to be serious, but non life-threatening injuries following a collision in a busy city commercial area, Thursday.

Police and emergency crews were dispatched to an area of Bell Boulevard near the entrance of the Quinte Mall around 6:15 p.m for a report of a two vehicle collision.

An investigation revealed the motorcycle driver, a 58-year-old Belleville man, was travelling westbound on Bell Boulevard when the driver of a pickup truck heading eastbound turned into his path.

The resulting collision caused significant damage to the motorcycle.

The driver of the truck, a 36-year-old Belleville man, was not injured. He was charged with Turn Not in Safety under the Highway Traffic Act.

Intoxicated at the hospital

A 65-year-old Belleville man may have had good intentions, but his actions landed him in police custody to sober up following an incident at Belleville hospital, Thursday.

Officers were dispatched to the Emergency Room of the hospital on Dundas Street East at 11:30 a.m. after staff reportedly had issues with a man attempting to visit a patient.

Hospital staff advised the man, who was intoxicated, arrived at the location to visit a patient who was not allowed to have visitors. The man refused to leave and started causing issues with other patients and staff.

Police arrived and the man was arrested for public intoxication and held until sober for his own safety.

He was released later in the day with a provincial offence notice for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place.

The Belleville Police Service was busy Thursday with a number of calls throughout the day and overnight, including the following:

• 13 911 hang-up calls;
• 11 calls for assistance;
• 3 traffic complaints
• 3 domestic-related incidents;
• 1 report of a suspicious person.
