Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 74 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on October 17, 2023 to 5:00 am on October 18, 2023.

Intimate Partner – Attempt Homicide

On the 16^th of October 2023 at 8:30pm, an off-duty Belleville Police officer was on their way home when they observed a male lying in a driveway with puncture wounds to his chest and mid-section and a large amount of blood in the driveway at a west end residence.  Belleville Police Service Uniform Patrol, Forensics Identification Unit and Criminal Investigations Division all attended and began an investigation into the man’s injuries.  As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old female from Belleville was arrested and charged with Attempt Murder, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Aggravated Assault.  The 22-year-old injured male from Belleville was transported to Kingston General Hospital where he remains in stable condition. The name of the accused is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim. The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Pedestrian struck by vehicle – Vehicle failed to remain

On the 17^th of October at 8:15am, officers were called to 150 Sidney St where it was reported a person had been struck by a car while in the parking lot.  Police located a male with minor injuries and it was learned the suspect vehicle had not remained at the scene.  The vehicle was described to be similar to a Chevrolet Z-24.

Assault

On the 17^th of October at 3:00pm, officers were called to the parking lot of an apartment building on Cannifton Rd for a report of people fighting.  Upon arrival, police discovered a male with minor injuries.  Police spoke to victim and interviewed witnesses.  As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old male from Belleville was arrested and charged with assault.  He was held for a bail hearing.

Fail to remain / Impaired Driver

On the 17^th of October at 7:30pm, officers were called to the area of Dundas St East and Haig Rd where two vehicles had collided and one had fled the scene.  Police attended and spoke to the driver of the vehicle which remained at the scene and witnesses.  As a result of the investigation, police located the other vehicle involved parked in a driveway.  The vehicle was damaged from the collision and the airbags had deployed.  The female driver was still in the vehicle attempting to hide from police.  Police continued their investigation and as a result, arrested the female driver for impaired driving.  She was transported to the Belleville Police Service where further tests showed her blood alcohol concentration was above the legal limit.

As a result, 21-year-old Madison Wannamaker of Belleville was charged with impaired driving, over 80 and failing to remain at the scene of an accident. 

No injuries were sustained by either driver.
