Assault and Breach of Undertaking

On the 18^th of November at 1am, Belleville Police were called to Dundas Street East regarding a male and female fighting on the sidewalk.  Officers arrived on scene and located the pair.  Witnesses reported to police that the male had physically assaulted the female prior to police arrival.  Police attended and spoke to the involved parties.  During the investigation, the male was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia which was in breach of his current Undertaking conditions.  As a result, a 32-year-old male from Belleville was charged with an intimate partner assault and breaching his Undertaking.  He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in January 2024. The name of the accused is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim. 

Cyclist struck by Vehicle

On the 18^th of November at 6pm, Belleville Police responded to the area of Coleman St and Catherine St regarding a cyclist that was struck by a vehicle.  Upon police arrival, they observed a witness providing medical attention to the cyclist.  EMS attended and transported the 39-year-old male cyclist of no fixed address to Kingston General Hospital in critical condition.  Members of the Belleville Police Forensic Identification Unit and Traffic Management Unit are assisting in the investigation.  The intersection was closed for approximately three hours while police processed the scene.  The cyclist remains in KGH and the investigation is continuing.  No charges have been laid. 

RIDE Program  

On the 18^th of November, members of the Belleville Police Service conducted a RIDE Program at numerous locations throughout the city.  Officers checked 895 vehicles throughout the RIDE Program.  No impaired drivers were located and no charges were laid. 

Assault, Break and Enter and Breach of Probation

On the 18^th of November at 3pm, Belleville Police received reports of a male physically assaulting a female in the city’s east end.  Officers attended the area and located the involved parties inside a residence.  During the investigation, police learned that the male had broke into the female’s residence and proceeded to assault her.  Police also learned that the male was breaching his probation order and a condition of a recent court ordered release.  As a result, police arrested and charged a 53-year-old male of no fixed address with Failing to comply with a previous release order, intimate partner assault, break and enter and breach of probation.  The male was held for a bail hearing. 

Assault

On Sunday, the 19^th of November at 12:17am, the Belleville Police Service received numerous calls to a North Front Street business in regards to a disturbance.  The Belleville Police Service Uniform Patrol attended and learned that a male causing a disturbance had engaged in a fight with another patron. As a result of the altercation a 35-year-old male from Prince Edward County was transported to Kingston General Hospital where he remains in serious condition. The Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigations Division are continuing the investigation.  No charges have been laid. Fire Investigation

On the 19^th of November at 8:27pm Belleville Police responded to a call regarding a dumpster fire in an alley way in the downtown core.  Witnesses advised that two males were observed leaving the alley way moments after the fire was discovered.  The Belleville Fire Department attended and had the fire under control in a short period of time.

Belleville Police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest, who was wearing a blue toque, black winter jacket, blue jeans and black boots. (see below photo)
