Pedestrian seriously injured

A 71-year-old Kitchener woman is in Kingston hospital with serious, life threatening injuries after a vehicle struck a pedestrian on North Front Street, Sunday evening.

Officers were called to the intersection of North Front and Donald streets area around 6 p.m. after the woman was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.

The female was taken to Belleville, then to Kingston hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The roadway was shut down by police for approximately four hours while members of the Traffic Safety Unit and Forensic Investigation Service processed the scene.

Serious injuries in crash

An early morning motor vehicle collision led to a 25-year-old man being taken to Kingston hospital with serious injuries, Sunday.

A number of emergency services were dispatched to the single motor vehicle collision on Old Highway 2 near Mitchell Road around 1:30 a.m.

The male driver was taken to Kingston hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The roadway was shut down by the Traffic Safety Unit for a number of hours while the scene was processed.

Stunt driving charge

A 32-year-old city man had his driver’s licence suspended and vehicle impounded after an officer on traffic duty in the city’s rural ward clocked him at more than double the speed limit, Saturday.

The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. when an officer conducting radar clocked a vehicle travelled 183 km/h in a posted 70 km/h zone on Highway 62.

The motorist was charged with Stunt Driving and had his licence seized and vehicle impounded as per legislation.

Impaired driving charges

A routine traffic stop on Tracey Street led to criminal charges against a 38-year-old Belleville man, Saturday.

An officer on patrol stopped a vehicle on the street around 1:25 a.m. and following an interaction with the male driver arrested him on an alcohol-related driving charge.

Charged with Operation While Impaired was Christopher Stevenson, 38, of Belleville. He was released with a January 4, 2024 court date.
