Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 209 calls for service between 5:00 am on December 08, 2023 to 5:00 am on December 11, 2023.

 

RIDE Program

During the evening hours on the 8th of December, the Belleville Police Service conducted a RIDE program at numerous locations throughout the city which resulted in 180 vehicles being checked.  One male was charged with driving while over 80mgs and one Provincial Offence Notice was issued for a Highway Traffic Act infraction.

 

Impaired Driving

On the 8th of December at 7:45pm, police were conducting a RIDE program in the north end of the city where they began an investigation into a male driver with the odor of alcoholic beverages on his breath.  Officers requested that he provide a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device where he registered a fail. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service for further investigation.  As a result of the investigation, 38-year-old, Anthony Stephen of Belleville was charged with driving with over 80mgs and released on an Undertaking with a court date in January 2024.

 

Breach of Undertaking and Possession of Drugs

On the 9th of December at 5:16pm, Belleville Police received a call from another police agency regarding a male who may be in Belleville and breaching conditions of his Undertaking. Police attended an address in the city’s west end and located the male.  Police confirmed that the male was not to be at the address and was not to be in contact with the female inside the residence.  The male was arrested.  While searching the male, he was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.  As a result, a 44-year-old male of no fixed address was charged with Breaching his Undertaking and possession of a controlled substance.  He was held for a bail hearing. 

 

Suspicious Incident – Police Seeking Public’s Assistance

On the 10th of December at approximately 4:00pm, Belleville Police responded to a call on Dundas Street East in the area of Herchimer Avenue regarding a suspicious incident. The adult female victim reported that a male driving a champagne/ beige coloured sedan, similar to a Toyota Camry, made multiple attempts to get the female victim in his car. The victim reported that the male had driven his vehicle on the sidewalk and opened his door in an attempt to get her in the vehicle. 

The suspect was described as being a white male in his 50 to 60’s, having short “salt and pepper” hair with a couple of days growth of patchy facial hair and being approximately 150lbs.  He was wearing a brown jacket and dark blue jeans.

Police received information that there was a male in the area who possibly filmed the incident on his cell phone.

The incident has been referred to the Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigation Division for continued follow-up.
