Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 83 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on February 12, 2024 to 5:00 am on February 13, 2024.

 

Mischief

On the 12th of February at 7:30pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of a person setting numerous garbage bins fires along Front St.  Belleville Fire was dispatched to extinguish the fires.  Police began an investigation into identifying the person responsible for setting the fires.  Police utilized the downtown camera network and were able to identify the suspect.  At 8:00pm, police located and arrested the suspect.  As a result of the investigation, a 50-year-old female of no fixed address was charged with four counts of mischief and breaching her probation. She was held for a bail hearing.  Other than the garbage bins, there was no other reported property damage.

 

Arrested on Warrant

On the 12th of February at 7:55pm, an officer patrolling on Bridge St. East recognized a male who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court.  As a result, the officer arrested the 39-year-old male on the strength of the warrant.  The male was held for a bail hearing. 

 

Arrested for threats

On the 12th of February at 1:43pm, Belleville Police received a call from a female who was receiving messages from a person who was threatening to attend her residence and cause bodily harm to her and her family.  The threats were from a relative.  As a result of the police investigation, a 20-year-old male from Belleville was arrested and charged with uttering threats to cause death.  The male was later released on an Undertaking with a court date in March.  The name of the accused is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.
