Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 67 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on November 22, 2023 to 5:00 am on November 23, 2023.

 

Drugs

On the 22nd of November at 7:55pm, the Belleville Police Service received a call to a north end business regarding a purse that was left behind which contained a quantity of illegal drugs, a large sum of cash and a taser.  The owner of the purse returned to the business to retrieve it and police were notified.  Upon arrival by police, the owner of the purse was arrested.  Mary Hennick, 35-years-old of Belleville was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking crystal meth, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of proceeds of crime over $5000. She was released on an Undertaking and has a court date in December 2023.

 

Arrested on Warrants

On the 22nd of November at 10:52pm, police were called to the waterfront trail at the rear of the stores on Front Street to assist with a female who appeared to be in medical distress.  Paramedics attended and provided medical assistance.  During the interaction, police identified the female and became aware that she was wanted on arrest warrants for a surety revoke, theft under $5000, fraud under $5000, fail to comply with probation and failure to attend court.  Kayia Atkinson, 35-years-old of Napanee was arrested on the strength of the warrants and held for a bail hearing.

 

R.I.D.E. Program

On the 22nd of November throughout the evening, the Belleville Police Service conducted a Ride Program at numerous locations throughout the city and checked 482 motorists.  Two roadside screening tests were administered, alcohol was seized from two vehicles and officers charged four motorists with various Highway Traffic Act offences.
