Motor Vehicle Collisions

The first significant snowfall of the season led to slippery road conditions throughout the city, Wednesday.

Throughout a nine-hour span yesterday, police were dispatched to 14 collisions involving motor vehicles.

There were no significant injuries reported and driving behavior not adjusted to road conditions were attributed to be factors in several.

Police would like to remind residents to drive according to road conditions and allow enough space to ensure safety.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind before you set out:

  • Slow down and move over for emergency vehicles.
  • Never pass a snow plow.
  • Avoid using overdrive or cruise control.
  • Ensure you have a winter safety kit, including blankets and first aid supplies.

Theft of Barbecue

The cold weather may be here, but it didn’t stop thieves from thinking about summer cooking Wednesday.

A residence on Turnbull Street contacted officers during the afternoon hours to advise someone had stolen her barbecue from the backyard of her residence.

A search of the area came up emptyhanded for the appliance.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Cst. Aaron Crawford at acrawford@bellevilleps.ca
